5 things you should avoid in writing a resume?

One of the main reasons why many job applicants do not get hired is because their resumes fail to attract the employers interest. Also, the resume does not meet the expectation of the interviewer.

So what are the things that you should avoid so you will not end up being rejected? Here are the following:

1. Typographical errors – your resume should be error free. Avoid misspelling and grammatical mistakes. Check every thing before you print out your resume. Make it sure that the words are type correctly.

2. Unnecessary and unclear information – resume readers have only few minutes to read your resume. So avoid unnecessary information if possible. We Filipinos are still using the traditional way of writing a resume that looks like a bio-data. However, most employees are not interested about our hobbies, interest, father’s or mother’s name, etc. What they want to see are important information of your skill, education, and work experience. Also, avoid vague information. It will only confuse the interviewer.

3. False information – never include false information of yourself in the resume. It is dishonesty, and it will ruin your credibility. There are some job applicants who do this by securing fake diplomas and transcript of records to get a job. At present, many companies in our country are using private investigators to check the applicants background and true identity once they found suspicious on the applicants resume. Simple rule still applies,”Honesty is the best policy.” Even you are undergraduate, there are still many employers that are willing to hire you, so be honest of yourself.

4. Exaggeration – Do not pretend to be more than who you really are. Also, do not emphasize too much of yourself. It will a bad impression to your interviewer.

5. Too much words – Avoid too wordy of your experience. Simplicity is still the best.
